How to reset and restore your iPhone | Apple Support

To reset my iPhone to factory settings, I first make sure I have a recent backup in iCloud or on my computer and keep my Apple Account details ready.

Then I open Settings, tap General, select Transfer or Reset iPhone, and choose Erase All Content and Settings. I tap Continue, decide whether to erase the eSIM, and enter my passcode and Apple ID password to begin the process.

Alternatively, I can use a computer by turning off Find My, connecting my iPhone, opening Finder or iTunes, selecting my device, and clicking Restore. After the process finishes, the Hello screen appears.

  • Or use a computer (Finder/iTunes) to restore; wait until the Hello screen appears.
  • Back up your iPhone and prepare your Apple ID details.
  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  • Tap Erase All Content and Settings and confirm with passcode and Apple ID.
  • Optionally erase eSIM if needed.
